Press release January 20, 2006 GCS Earns SolidWorks
Certified Gold Product Status Newest Version of Conisio Software
Enhanced for Deploying PLM across the Enterprise LAS VEGAS, NV -
January 20, 2006 - Conisio® software from GCS Scandinavia recently earned
the status of Certified Gold Product from the SolidWorks Solution Partner Program,
representing the highest level of integration with SolidWorks® software. Conisio
is the first and only commercial engineering document management system entirely
integrated within Windows Explorer. The system supports any application running
on a Windows-based computer including CAD programs such as SolidWorks and all
Microsoft Office® programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.
Rather than struggle with cumbersome interfaces, users perform all functions in
Conisio through Windows Explorer or one of its other integrations. "Our
entire team is impressed with the functionality and integration of Conisio,"
says Brian Houle, manager of the SolidWorks Solution Partner Program. "Its
integration with SolidWorks and operation within Windows Explorer maximize the
productivity of SolidWorks users, and we are pleased to award the software our
Certified Gold Product status." "We are honored that Conisio's
value for SolidWorks users has been recognized," explains GCS President Kenneth
Hallberg. "We have a close working relationship with SolidWorks and look
forward to supporting its broad user community in leveraging our unique approach
for powerful, simple, and affordable engineering document management." GCS
recently launched Version 6.3 of Conisio with significant enhancements for readily
deploying product data management (PDM) and related product lifecycle management
(PLM) initiatives across the enterprise. A unique file vault replication technology
enables multiple users at different locations (even those widely dispersed around
the world) to quickly access engineering documents and information stored on the
system. This replication function is now verified to readily handle low bandwidth
and high latency, thus enabling systems with limited connection speeds to conveniently
access the central database. Conisio 6.3 also now supports SQL Server 2005, Microsoft's
next-generation integrated data management and analysis solution helping organizations
deploy enterprise applications and share data across multiple systems. A
completely new feature in Conisio 6.3 is Cold Store functionality that enables
the system to schedule file vault compression using Zip- technology. Versions
of documents can be stored off-line and intermediate working versions can be permanently
deleted. This feature is easy to set up and schedule via Conisio's Administration
Tool, thus reducing extended storage requirements while maintaining a complete
audit trail of document changes. The user interface of Conisio 6.3 includes
document thumbnail previews that display simplified sketches of parts in an assembly
or product, together with a hierarchal listing of part documents associated with
those components. User-defined reference hierarchies for documents are easily
set up and modified using "drag and drop" and other features conveniently
for relating particular files. "Conisio 6.3 reflects our overall strategy
of delivering high-performance technology with an easy-to-use, simple interface
for users both within and outside the technical workgroup," says Hallberg.
"This enables companies to put PLM functionality on the desktops of a wide
range of users than is otherwise possible." Hallberg explains that
because users perform all functions through Windows Explorer or one of its other
integrations such as SolidWorks, for example, the familiar look and feel results
in early user acceptance, minimal training, quick implementation and early return
on investment. "Conisio is one of the easiest and most affordable ways
to implement PDM and related product lifecycle PLM initiatives," he notes.
"In significant contract awards every week, Conisio is selected over established
players in the mid-range PLM market on the basis of its easy-to-use interface,
minimal resources needed for implementation, tight integration with multiple CAD
systems, and a demonstratable industry-leading ROI." Conisio will be
demonstrated in GCS booth 117 at the SolidWorks World 2006 user conference and
exposition. About GCS Conisio is developed and supported by GCS
Scandinavia AB (www.conisio.com), a Swedish-based software provider. First released
in 1999, Conisio has been enhanced with additional capabilities and is used for
document management by companies around the world including Tetra Pak, SAAB, W.L.
