Conisio is the first and only commercial engineering document management system entirely integrated within Windows Explorer.   Users perform all functions with Conisio either through Windows Explorer or one of its other integrations.   Through this functionality, users across the enterprise can readily manage files and collaborate more effectively throughout the product lifecycle.

Windows-Based Applications Support.   The system supports any Windows-based application including CAD and all Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.   The software is tightly integrated with Windows-based CAD packages and supports the latest version of SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidEdge and MicroStation.

Handling Product-Related Data.   In addition to the standard CAD files, Conisio also manages and displays associated metadata such as version or revision levels and document history as well as the hierarchical relationships between components, drawings and 3D models.

Document Viewing.   Conisio quickly displays product-related information from selected files directly to the user's desktop and includes a document view capability to display over 280 file formats such as Microsoft Office documents, CAD drawings, models, images and more.   In this way, users can view, manipulate, comment on, and utilize information from these applications with absolutely no training in the software and no need to have the actual software running or installed on their computer.

Working with Files.   Documents are stored in a file vault and metadata in a SQL database and are accessed via the familiar Windows File Browser.   Files are retrieved from and stored in the vault though a secure check-in/check-out system that controls versions and revisions while preventing more than one person at a time from modifying a particular file.   From within any application, the user can open and save any files directly from the vault without having to go through any intermediate operations or file transfers.

Web Access to Data.   Web client functionality connects users directly to the file vault and SQL server over the Internet using the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.   In this way, Conisio provides live, real-time access to files and the ability to work directly with stored data.   Web client routines are automatically installed when accessing the web-shared vault, so users are not required to load Conisio software on their computers.   This enables people at any location to manage files remotely and readily share information with other authorized users.

Managing Workflow.   Conisio workflow functions enable users at distributed locations to become active participants in product development, design reviews, engineering change orders, quote approval and other product-related processes.   Workflow diagrams show paths of documents and related information through the various processes along with responsible individuals and their access rights (read, modify, approve, etc.).   Automatic notifications prompt workers on actions required at specific stage gates while an overview of project status shows managers bottlenecks.
